3 Chicks and a Rooster

We may seem like one ordinary family, but we are one unique chicken coop!

Denial, it’s what keeps us going! July 19, 2011

Even after being married for 11 years that dreaded green-eyed monster comes to shine.

Rooster doesn’t ogle at the opposite sex, unless it is clothing options for me. By the way, if you are wearing something low cut with great shoes you can bet he is imagining me in that same outfit.

Time and again we may be watching a movie and I will be all, “Such and such is HOT”.  Which rooster will reply, with “Yeah she is”.

Doesn’t he know the rule of thumb?

Deny, deny, deny, deny!

It’s like you only being allowed to pick on your sibling.

The proper answer is, “I never noticed her before.”

Then I can be all, “Awe isn’t my husband just the best?”

Okay I do know this answer isn’t true, and that Rooster has noticed her before. I mean what warm-blooded male hasn’t seen her half naked body on the side of a bus promoting her next movie?

The fact is women LOVE denial! We live and breathe denial!

We ask if we look fat in this, and you say no… DENIAL

We ask if eating that Big Mac, while watching Biggest Loser is a good idea, and you say sure… DENIAL again!

The lesson for this ramble is:

The green-eyed monster wouldn’t rear its ugly head if DENIAL ruled our lives!

No Habla Espanol… July 7, 2011

I love reading Magazines.

I love People, Cosmo, and all the smut out there!

I must love them so much that people think I need magazines like these…

*This English inquiring mind would like to know… Is there a translation for Sex Tips?*

1. I don’t pay for them

2. Not sure if this a Punk’d moment in the form of magazines

3. I have been getting them for months

4. Am happy I can pass them to the side of the fam that can read them

5. Would REALLY love to be able to read them

Today I received a new one…

The positive on this one is at least I can read it.

I am really interested in reading about the article on Latinos and Marriage. Rooster is 1/2 Latino, so does that mean what is said here has 1/2 a chance of being a factor into ours?

So if I am being Magazine Punk’d can you please send me Us Weekly maybe? I think I am safe with that one right?

Opposites Attract May 25, 2011

When I hear about single friends and how they are attracted to someone because they have many similar interests I wonder how that really works.

I am not knocking it, but I will tell you the truth,

I fell for Rooster for these reasons…

1. HOTNESS… That boy at the age of 19 was one athletic, fine specimen of a man. (Don’t worry he is like a good bottle of wine, who only gets better with age)

2. Confidence… He is one cocky guy who knows his stuff don’t stink.

3. Intelligence… It irritates me sometimes the brains this man has and  how naturally he comes by it.

I didn’t fall for him for our similarities, because when you look we don’t have many.

He is a night owl, whereas I could be asleep by 9 on any night.

He loves to go out on the town, whereas I would rather cuddle on the couch with glass of wine.

He can do something over and over until he wants to get it right, whereas I will give up and maybe go back after a month.

He can watch endless hours of any sport, including golf (SNORE FEST), whereas I can spend endless hours reading a good book.

The few similarities we do have fill in the holes, but it’s our differences that make us the strong couple we are.

You don’t need to be twins in comparisons for a great relationship to be just that… GREAT!

WE DID IT! March 30, 2011

Or any day!

Yes you read right!

We are officially a non-binky house!

No more worrying about looking under couches and cushions.

No more worrying about pushed out teeth.

I wish I could say it was easy and it only took a day.

Nope nothing with baby Chick is ever easy.

It took one week without the incessant crying.

It took two weeks without asking for it.

It took three weeks without mentioning the word at all.

It was hard work, but we did it!

Baby Chick is binky free!

Down to the last… March 1, 2011

We had a scare where we lost the final binky.

Buckets of tears ensued.

Tantrum was thrown.

I thought, “I can do this! She will be okay and after a few days she will forget.”

I was being a strong momma chick comforting my baby chick’s loss.

Rooster couldn’t handle it and searched high and low in our chicken coop.

At long last the binky was found.

The tears dried up and the meltdown ended.

Everything is good in Baby Chick’s world yet again.

Well for now…

Man Cards February 22, 2011

Filed under: rooster — Momma Chick @ 8:27 am

These could also be referred to as testosterone/male ego cards.

If  your man is caught holding your purse: He looses a man card.

If your man proves he can bench press his weight and then some: He gains a man card.

Rooster and I joke about his man cards, but there is one I really wanted him to get.

This last year has been a tough one for our chicken coop.

Rooster was laid off in 2009.

2010 we moved in with his parents.

I worked here and there, but with only education as my background not many other places were hiring.

I got a seasonal job in hopes it could turn full time. Rooster would stay home.

That job ended and then we were both scrambling to find jobs yet again.

Rooster applied and never was called. We were at our wits end!

Then the best thing for him happened…

He got a call for the most perfect job and not that big of a pay difference.

Today is his first day and he got one heck of a man card back.

>Conversations that make you go Hmmm… November 12, 2010

>Why do I love being a parent?

Because of the awesome conversations and/or phrases I get to hear come out of my Chick’s mouths.

Last night while in the car, Chick 2 asked if it hurt when I had her.

I told her, “Oh yeah”

She then asks, “Does it hurt like when you have to poop but can’t?”

I tell her, “It hurts a lot more than that”

Rooster then explains, “It’s like trying to poop out a watermelon”

Baby Chick is in the stage of learning and repeating new words on a daily basis. Of course some words don’t sound quite like the real thing.

While playing with her one day she says, “My horse is pissing”

I think I almost pissed myself when I heard this.

Then I realized what that truly meant…

“My horse is missing”

Oh and yes missing is still pissing in her vocabulary.
